Floral Beauty

by Janice Willson

Sometimes we do not take the time to notice the minutia of the ordinary. This series of photos shows some commonly found blossoms up close and personal in great detail. I have these images in a series because of their importance to my hometown of Ottawa, Ontario. The tulip has had a place in the city since the years following World War Two and many, many crab apple trees were planted around the city in 1967 as a celebration of the centennial, each blooming in the spring to fill the Ottawa with colour. They show what beauty can be created by combining just the right amount of matter and energy.
